Technical - A total of 10 Points

Scripts: (5 points) Scripts can be a wonderful enhancement for a website and eye catchy if working properly. Do not use scripts if you do not know how to insert them correctly.

Java applets - Make sure they work. Eliminate applets which take to much time to load. Not all browsers support java applets.

HTML coding - Should be doubled checked for errors such as leaving an opened tag or improper coding. This can often cause script errors to pop up upon page load.

Scripts or coding which do not allow visitors to leave your site! Inserting such scripts will disqualify your site from winning any of OpenAdit's "Best Rocks & Minerals Website" award.

Alternative "No Scripts" (links) - Some browsers do not support "java scripts", such as static menus or side menus. There should also be navigational text links on the pages for browsers that do not support scripts.

Popup Windows - Make sure popup windows are related to the website. If the website is hosted using free hosting provider, pop up scripts are annoying if they do not pertain to the site, but we will allow them as long as we do not receive error messages on any of the pages, caused by the "advertisement pop ups". (Disqualification of website, for error messages caused by pop up Ads)
More then 1 advertisement pop up box, per page, will cause disqualification of the website also.

Meta Tags: (5 points) Meta Tags are used to add information to the HTTP header for a page. Example: Author Name, Title of Web Site and "Keywords".

Bonus Points - Possible 15 points added to your score

Free Resources and/or informative links, that will make visitors come back to the website. (5 Points)

Website content and Graphics are all (100%) your originals and created only by the applicant! Please state on the application, if the site is 100% of original content, design and graphics. (6 Points)

Providing a site map. (2 Points).

Copyrights - If using someone else's graphics, banners, content or information that was not created by applicant, please allow appropriate credit to it's creators, otherwise website will be disqualified.

No Redirects - We do not accept sites that are "Redirects" or "Pointer Pages". The URL you submit for judging, must be the actual URL and not point or redirect Open Adit™ Rocks & Minerals to another site!
